One of Britain’s longest-running and most popular comic books, Whizzer and Chips was published from October 1969 to October 1990. Divided into two separate parts, Whizzer was the main comic and Chips inserted as a separate pull-out section in the middle. Readers were encouraged to become either a “Whizz-Kid” or a “Chip-ite”, with Sid and his snake Slippy the leader of the Whizz-Kids, while the leader of the Chip-ites was a would-be boxer called Shiner.
